Spring Collage Workshop

There are still spots left in my one-day Spring Collage Workshop (Wednesday, May 3, from 6:30-8:30pm). This is an easy (and fun) way to see how you like taking an art class ... or making collages. During this one-time workshop, we will use collage to make one-of-a-kind works of art. Using a wide assortment of papers, scissors, and glue, participants will be delighted to see how easy it can be to make beautiful cards and frame-able works of art. Participants will leave this workshop with a series of colorful collage greetings cards and/or stand-alone collages. Only $40!

fast mini collages

In my adult class this week, we had a lot of fun making a series of small collages that went to gather quickly ... the idea being not to over-think them. The results were just terrific! In the pics here are three small collages each by 6 different students, and then I threw in my own (very colorful) six. I don't usually do exercises in class along with the students, but this time I did and had a great time with it, too.

ancient Greek geometric style pottery

I can brag, right? I love these vases that my 7- to 10-year-olds made in class yesterday afternoon. Inspired by ancient Greek geometric style pottery, they cut out and painted large vases ... and then they stamped geometric patterns on them using found objects (cardboard, game pieces, bottle caps, etc.) I love how big, bold and colorful they are!

Creative Collage

My Spring "Creative Collage" class at the Arlington Arts Center is open for enrollment, and enrollment will be capped at 10, so sign up soon if you know that you want to take the class. This class explores forms of art that predominantly use paper, which means that we will cut, glue, and paint every Tuesday evening, from 6:30-8:30PM. We will use abstract exercises to work on composition and color and class projects will include contemporary takes on collage, decoupage, hand-made cards, 3D collages and more. You can register here: https://www.arlingtonartscenter.org/adultclasses

It's done!

Our carriage house renovation is finally done and it was worth the wait! Although we kept it simple, this humble (probably 18th-century) structure went from decrepit to delightful.
