Upcoming Carriage House Workshops

Here are my upcoming Carriage House workshops, to add a little art-making to your March!:

March 11 (Sunday): 2-4PM
MARK-MAKING WORKSHOP
For two hours we will pull out stencils, make simple stamps, and select found objects -- all of which will then be used to make interesting patterned papers. These papers will add richness, texture, and drama to your future collage creations. We'll make patterns on white paper, on colored paper, and we'll print over previously printed pages (books and catalogs), to help you create a wonderful array of truly unique papers. Paper, paint, ink, and other materials included in cost. Cost: $40.

March 15 (Thursday): 6:30-8:30PM
PASTE PAPER WORKSHOP
We'll tint and use wall paper paste to make subtly textured, colorful papers. We'll make combs for creating texture, but also experiment with found objects that leave interesting patterns in our vibrant textured papers. These papers, once used for the precious end-papers of quality books, will add interest to your future works of art. We'll get messy; bring an apron. Cost: $40.

March 18 (Sunday): 2-4PM
THANK YOU CARDS (PRINTED)
You'll have a variety of materials to use (paint, paper, text, and painted paper) and creative guidance in crafting a thank you card that you really like. I'll then take care of uploading the graphic and having a pack of 25 cards printed. They should be ready for pick-up (or I can mail them to you) about two weeks after the workshop. Bring your previously-made papers! This workshop costs more than normal: $70.

March 22 (Thursday): 6:30-8:30PM
VINTAGE BOOK PAPER CREATURES
Inspired by the artwork of Denise Fiedler, we'll make whimsical animal collages using (predominately) vintage book pages. Bring a photo of a favorite pet or animal ... or use my stash of ideas to create one. Cost: $40.

March 28 (Wednesday): 6:30-9PM
COLLAGE ON WOOD BLOCKS
We'll use solid birchwood blocks as the support in this collage workshop. You may choose to make abstract or figurative collages which you'll then cut up, mount on the wood blocks, and then coat with a layer of protective sealer. The end result is an utterly charming interactive set of collage blocks, that you will want to leave out for guests to play with. (It is also a fun project for creating a keepsake present, by using a photo of a family member or friend.) This workshop is a bit longer than the others (2-1/2 hours) and will cost: $50.

March 30 (Friday): 6:30-9PM
ABSTRACT COLLAGE
Even if you've come to one of my abstract collage workshops before, what you produce will always be new. Bring papers that you have made previously, or dig into my stash of ever-changing new, vintage, and painted papers to create something divine. I will provide creative prompts (project suggestions) to get you started, if you like. Or you can just dive in and see what strikes your fancy.) Cost: $40.
